Traveling to find a place to stop for dinner in Crivitz, Wisconsin my husband stopped off to check the phone GPS and we looked through the woods and saw this beauty. A dreary, light rain gave the scene a dramatic contrast.
The Caldron Falls Dam was constructed during 1924-1926 and began operating in 1925. It is on the Peshtigo River and the Caldron Falls Flowage which is a 1,063 acre reservoir located in Marinette and Oconto County.
The Peshtigo River originates north of Crandon, Wisconsin, near the source of the Wolf River. The river flows through Forest and Marinette counties before emptying into Green Bay, seven miles southeast of the city of Peshtigo.
